The Minister for Kampala, Hajjat Minsa Kabanda, has appealed to residents of the capital to reflect on and appreciate President Museveni’s contribution to the country, urging them to support him in the forthcoming elections.
She said the National Resistance Movement (NRM) is seeking an overwhelming victory in both Kampala and the wider Buganda region.
Hajjat Kabanda, who is also contesting for Kampala Woman Member of Parliament on the NRM ticket, made the remarks while conducting campaign rallies in several parts of the city, including Bukesa, Kakajjo 2, and surrounding areas. Her campaign trail has continued to traverse different communities as she mobilises support for herself and fellow NRM candidates.
Speaking to residents, the minister repeatedly reminded them to vote for President Museveni, noting that he has “done a lot of good for the country” and deserves strong backing from the capital. She emphasized that a decisive win in Kampala would affirm the confidence the public has in the President’s leadership.
However, Hajjat Kabanda also acknowledged facing challenges during her campaign. According to her, many residents express personal admiration for her but remain hesitant to support the political party she represents. She described this as a recurring concern during her interactions with the electorate.
Kabanda further noted that Kampala residents have high expectations of their leaders, largely due to past disappointments. She urged voters not to make uninformed choices or vote for leaders they “simply meet by chance,” but instead select individuals who genuinely understand and are committed to resolving their everyday challenges.
The minister called on the people of Kampala to entrust her with their votes and extend the same support to other NRM flag bearers contesting various positions across the city.
